Specializing in 150 to 200 year old cypress trees

Cruse lumber has something special to offer you. We have trees that are not only old, but also have extremely tight growth rings.

Beams and lumber can be cut to meet your needs and specializations. We also offer whole trees to be used for decor in your log homes.

  • Select Lumber has been graded hard with no knots - excellent for cabinets and moldings.
  • #2 Lumber has small knots and can be used for walls, flooring and ceilings.
  • #3 Lumber has solid, tight knots ideal for any building purpose.

Our Cypress lumber has been graded hard, stacked and air dried, and is sold as rough cut lumber.

The Cruse family knows that marketable old-growth stands of Cypress are fast vanishing. Our Cypress swamp holds a resource of great potential wood with extra hardness and durability due to our densely populated Cypress timber growing slowly in shallow water undisturbed for 150 to 200 years.

Our Cypress lumber is logged and milled on site. The Cypress mill operation manufactures rough sawn lumber and beams. The Cypress lumber has a rough sawn texture and is cut to your specifications. Cypress lumber cuts well with both hand and power tools. The Cypress lumber planes easily and the boards glue, sand, and accept paint and stain very well.

Cypress lumber has a natural beauty with a rich color, grain, and texture. In its natural state, Cypress lumber has a superior durability resistant to insects, decay, and splitting.

Cypress lumber has a wood preservative oil known as Cyressene which gives the wood a suitable surface to use for outside building projects. This Cypress lumber can be used for siding, fences, shutters, window boxes, and landscape designs.

Cypress lumber, when left to the elements weathers beautifully to a charcoal gray.

Cypress lumber can also be used for interior walls, ceilings, cabinets, and beams. You can paint or stain your interior Cypress. Two coats of polyurethane varnish should be sufficient when finishing the surface.

We, at Cruse Lumber, know these characteristics make Cypress lumber a prime choice for builders or homeowners who want a great natural look, or for architects researching old-growth cypress lumber for log cabins and resort homes.
